The artists
Di Allison
Di's and fellow artist, Patrick Hall's
collaboration is with scientist Russell
Bradford.
My work seeks to express the personal through the uniquely intimate
medium of jewellery and often incorporates discarded non-precious
materials. Toy fragments, cake decorations, even contraceptive pills,
have featured in recent works. For me, this debris from our
everyday lives can reflect aspects of ourselves...a regret, a certainty,
a sorrow.
Notions of communication are also explored through such symbols
as the printed word (usually in the form of text from beauty product
packaging), numeric systems and the more coded languages of Morse
and Braille. These visual representations are used in a desire
to portray the measurement of the intangible.
